Anything in the interest of humanity would not be copyrighted or kept a secret like a child with its secrets. An adult humanity will develop many new things for the benefit of all of humanity, especially when everyone is getting universal education and not just a few.
Keeping secrets for profit is not a part of a universally adult community system or an advanced species. Research and Development and the sharing of information is important to species development.
